Tree Canada Foundation:
Project Type: Tree Planting
Location: Across Canada

Conversion factors to accuratly calculate the carbon results were provided from VCR Inc Challenge Registry Guide to Entity & Facility Reporting - Unit Conversion Tables. To accurately determine the number of trees that must be planted for the offset, the body of TCF's methodology is outlined in their free PDF called "what trees can do to reduce atmospheric CO2".

The authors - Dr.Nigel Roulet and Dr. BIll Freedman - are noted Canadian scientists. The methodology provides for the number of trees required to retire one tonne of C02 over 80 years. The calculation requires convertinfg CO2 to CO and assigning survival factors to account for lost trees.
